What a way to spend one’s anniversary—visiting a wayward daughter in jail and dealing with a grand’s anxiety attacks and change of direction in her career—from nursing to cosmetology (which has always been her first love)

Took Shandi to visit Stacie and so she could ask Stacie those importing questions burning holes in my mind—why did you lie to me, how can a mother do these things over and over to her child. No satisfactory answer was given, but Shandi felt good asking them; she also didn’t let her anger control her.

We were told that Bruce had held her hostage which is why she didn’t come back home; reminded me of when DHS took the girls and Stacie and I met the next day for a judge hearing and drug test—Stacie popped positive and said that Gary made her use.

We did get the EBT card, so were able to buy Shandi some groceries.

I meet with the lawyer Wednesday on the lifetime estate thing we drew up with Stacie having a lifetime estate—done so Stacie could file homestead and taxes would be lower. UGH.

Shandi’s SSI caseworker called yesterday. She had called several times but was calling the wrong number—probably either Stacie’s old phone or Shandi’s-anyway she was so shocked at what Shandi was having to endure, yet again.

Now that Roy knows Stacie is in jail, he is upping his desire to be bailed out so he can come help with Shandi. He does not comprehend that until she turns 18 or the charges are dropped, he can’t be in contact with her.

And life goes on…….

Stacie, jail and consequences

Well it’s been a horrid week, beginning last Tuesday. Shandi’s Disability dropped on the debit card set up for it—730 and change. Stacie and Shandi went to town, Stacie bought herself a new phone, brought Shandi home and told her she was going to a friend’s for the night to get rid of the stress.

I got some odd messages from an ex-girlfriend of Stacie’s on Thursday which led me to believe she was with Bruce H, and they were probably doing drugs so I text Stacie.

Friday morning I got up to this email…

to me

I know that you have no reason to believe me but I’m sorry about everything. I know that I’m a fucking disappointment to you.

I want to make it right. Will you let me do that. I would like to come home and do that. I would like for Bruce’s stuff to be able to stay there. He doesn’t have a home. I’m going to come finish cleaning. I want some of my stuff to remain untouched. I want to be able to have some stuff. You raised your kids. Utter failure with Robbie. I’ll give you me. You didn’t fuck up, I did. But man oh man what a mess you made with Ana. You really wanted a win. So to start with every time I made a rule you would make sure and counterman it giving her exactly what she wanted. She may have graduated but barely.

I hung up on you because you were treating me like a 12 year old. I’m not so stop. Let me do what you couldn’t.

Recent events have caused me do a lot of thinking. I have held my happiness incarcerated for the happiness of others. I’m not going to do that anymore. It time for me to chart my life the way I see fit. Every one else has managed to control me into what they wanted me to do. I would like for it to be ok if while I’m gone Bruce is allowed out there to get Kawasaki running for me when I get out.

I don’t want to come out there only to be arrested. I’m going to jail for the rest of my probation. Can that be enough and I will forever more be label with that. I have punished myself enough over the years.

I was never good enough for y’all. I always had to be better. I’m done trying to please other people. It is way passed time for me to take care of me. And just so you know I know he not perfect and whether or not he knows it he is helping me find the real me. Who I am becoming. No I don’t know how he feels for me. I’m done there. I’m not happy there anymore. I’ve done school all the way to a bachelor’s and what has that gotten me nothing. It took cookie getting hurt for me to realize all of this.

I’m sorry I couldn’t be perfect.

I love you all

My reply”

Why are you going to jail for the rest of your probation?

What about Shandi’s money? Have you spent her whole month’s check? Does she have any left to live on for the month?

what about Shandi? What will she do while you go to jail?

Bruce cannot come out here and stay with Shandi up there. That won’t happen. Her money will not pay the bills for anyone to live there but her and you .

For your information we raised Ana because this is where she chose to be because of you and Gary using drugs and the way you treated her.

Bring the truck home

Funny to me you say Robbie was an epic fail and you’ve done the same things…we were proud of you until you chose to go down the drug path, then you wouldn’t work, you’d blow money on drugs and stuff rather than fixing up the house we gave you. Years ago you told me the reason you used drugs the first time was because you had to prove to me that you weren’t perfect. That was cutting off your nose to spite your face.

You need to come home and explain yourself–your daughter is sitting up there with nothing to eat trying to take care of your dog.

I didn’t mean to live there you really should reread that I said to work on the Kawasaki. You are still trying to control me. I was really so controlled by y’all. I honestly believed that I couldn’t go a day without talking to you. All I ever needed was to get away

Mine back to her:

You don’t want to be controlled by us? Come home, leave all info about Shandi and a letter stating you give me right to make decisions for her, pack your shit and go. You still haven’t Answered me. Does Shandi have any money to live on rest of month. Why are you going to spend probation time in jail?

If you would pay your own way rather than living off your younguns I’d never say a word.

You can’t spend her money like you did child support. You got by with that but this is her disability money and she needs it.

Couple of weeks ago a guy came in with a brand new shirt. He needed the sleeves shortened to same length as the white shirt (which needed laundering also). I began the computer info and realized that 9.55 + tax just didn’t seem right to remove cuffs, shorten sleeves and replace cuffs. This guy always wears long sleeve. Period.

I call the seamstress and ask her about pricing—I say, “ 9.55 doesn’t seem enough to remove cuffs, shorten sleeves to length of sample shirt, then re-attach cuffs.” She tells me to go with that price and if there is a price increase she will adjust it.

I wrote in the notes on the ticket that sleeves needed to be shortened to length of sample shirt which was a long sleeve.

Saturday the guy comes in to pick up his shirts and when I scan them I realize they have made SHORT sleeves of his shirts, BOTH of them.

He must have this shirt by August 4th. He needs it to wear with a group of men for something. I didn’t ask what.

I guess from now on I need to type—remove cuff, shorten sleeve, replace cuff.

I know I do. Today the seamstress called concerning a coat my sidekick sent in to tighten up the buttons. We only have certain ‘codes’ for pricing. We don’t have a tighten button code, we have a replace button code. That is the code and pricing my sidekick used. The seamstress called to ask what did she need to do to the jacket? It said replace button but there were no missing buttons-I looked at the ticket and asked if there were loose buttons at which she said there were. I told her to tighten up the loose buttons. Geez!!!!!!

I love my job!!!!!

working for the public

I fought the law…..

Not really.

A few weeks ago a lady I knew from way back came in with some clothes to be pressed. This lady was the wife of a man named Frank. They were regular customers of ours when we had Salem Grocery. However, they were not very reliable at paying their bill.

Anyway-last week the clothes were back, she came in to pick them up. I brought them out and hung them on the hook to scan them and as I scanned and placed them on the ‘pick-up’ hook she examined them.

She says, I can’t have this. My daughter would die if I brought this to her. She leaves for work tomorrow, she has to have these clothes. She travels and this was a 150.00 dollar suit, this is horrible.

I offered to send it back and have it pressed again as the wrinkles in it was the issue she had. Two different suits of clothes were left to be sent back. They came in yesterday, I racked them and today before lunch she came in to pick them up. I brought them out and told her to examine them to be sure she was happy.

“They still haven’t pressed these,” she says.

“Ma’am I can’t say. Maybe it’s the type of fabric that really doesn’t look pressed.”

No, this has always looked good when it was pressed properly. I would not have brought them here but the other cleaner was closed.

After a while of griping she decides to pay for them. So she does…then she continues to examine them. Then she says, “Give me my money back.”

“I can’t” I say. She wants to know why and I tell her I’ve never been shown how to do it on the computer and I’m not sure I’m allowed to do so.

She says she will call the law. I tell her she will just have to do that, but offered to call the plant for her. She agreed to that, I did, the girl there says we can’t do refunds, and that I need to call the boss.

So I do…he says to tell her to call the law but she has to wait outside until they arrive. I do this, the chief of police comes in and tells her that this is a civil manner and she will have to see a judge. She asked him if she (not sure why she thought the judge was a she) was out there to which the chief of police says to her, “No ma’am, for this you have to go to the courthouse.”

She gathers her clothes and off she goes. About an hour later she comes back. She had taken them to the other cleaners to have them pressed. They refuse them because the buttons (wooden square ones) are broken. She wants me to reimburse her for the buttons. At this point our boss has already blocked her so there is nothing I can do but give her the plant address. It is 35 miles away, but off she goes.

A while later the girl who works at the plant called to let check on me. Said the woman about drove them nuts about the buttons, but finally she left.

Why oh why

Why oh Why

Why can’t I do at least a weekly catch up on this blog???? Lazy? Busy? No Words?

Maybe some of it all.

Got Ana registered at SWMJC for the fall semester. I sure pray she does well, stays out of trouble and makes something of her life. Some days I wonder. Some days she reminds me so much of her mother—and that is NOT good.

Speaking of: Mother left on Monday going to Howard’s and his wifes. Called Shandi Tuesday evening to see if she wanted some tenderloin brought for her to eat. Today is Friday, she still isn’t home. I figure the tenderloin is ruined by now. I figure mother isn’t at Howards and wife either. I figure mother is at Bruce Herrington’s and that is why she does not answer Shandi’s text or calls, my text or Terry’s calls.

She is alive. She replied to Ana this evening about Shandi’s phone #. She text Shandi around 4 saying she would be home tonight …yep…Terry called around 3:30 and left voicemail saying if she wasn’t home tonight he would report truck stolen. She won’t answer the phone but knows her dad will call the law.

I’ve lost a pair of pants at work. A sample pair came in yesterday. I didn’t rack them cause I figured the others would come today. Instead I hung them on one specific hook in the store front part. Today the 2 pair that were hemmed by the sample pair came in—the sample pair is not where I hung it. I did NOT hang anything else over them. I haven’t a clue. Maybe the delivery boy picked them up today thinking they needed to go back? Maybe someone stole them while I went for their clothes? I doubt that. Most folks that pay for clothes to be cleaned won’t steal. Maybe I let them go with someone else’s order but I didn’t think I had any other clothes hanging on that hook.

Oh well. I will pay for them if need be.

Ana came by today. She had been to Stacie’s to get some games from Shandi.

Freezer we bought in June—6/15—has damaged hinges and won’t seal. Called Lowes today after the repairman they sent gave us the verdict. I want Lowes to bring me a new one rather than me have to load this one up and haul it to them and then bring another one home. That’s ridiculous; especially given that it took forever to even get help loading that one.

Our new secretary is doing great. I’m so relieved to not have to do that job now…just help her along the way.

What a week-5/23/17

What a week!!

Sunday after church several couples met up at Sartinville to eat at De’St Germaine’s. Terry and I wanted to introduce Graham to the food, and it’s the habit of others to eat there following church.

Halfway through the meal Shandi texts me wanting to know if we are still at church. Eventually, she gets around to telling me the law has been there to speak with Terry (Paw) and they also want to talk with Ana. Anxiety attack big time—Ana has just walked out to go back to Judy’s (a cousin and friend), I chase out to catch her and ask why would the law be looking for her. She hasn’t a clue. She did say she and Donavan,. (a long time school friend and son of my hairdresser) had been out riding and got stopped by the law. The law searched the car but found nothing so let them go.

Back to the restaurant I go, anxious to pay and be on our way—Graham picked up the bill this time though. We hadn’t been home over 15 minutes when the law came by. First of all the detective was a laundry customer-he asks what am I doing here to which I reply that I live here. I introduce him to Terry and ask what the problem is. He proceeds to tell us there was a robbery last night (Saturday) close by, it was 2 males broke into XYZ’s trailer. They stole some money and other things including a cell phone. Said cell phone was pinging at our house..OMG. He asks us a bunch of questions and finally he says: Ya’ll don’t have a clue, do you? To which we said nope, we sure don’t. Ana hasn’t been here for a few weeks-she has been staying with friends, so we aren’t up on the gossip.

I text Ana to come over, and in a while she arrives. The Detective questions her and finally, after Ana comes in for about 15 minutes the detective shows up with the cell phone in an evidence bag. He has asked for a photo of the ping and enlarged it to discover it wasn’t pinging exactly IN our house, but up the road. The thieves had thrown the phone out up above the greenhouse.

The Detective told us that once he realized this was MY residence (he is a laundry customer) and that Terry worked for the country, he knew something wasn’t right. I assured him that as far as Terry and I were concerned, he was right, but with kids now days, one never knows, but I surely was glad to know that Ana had nothing to do with this incident. He said the girlfriend of the young man who owns the camper had given him Ana’s name along with the name of several other girls who might have had a part in this robbery. We told him she had given Ana’s name simply because Ana was friends with the neighbor girl who was slipping around and having sex with the owner of the camper a few months back. Oh what a tangled web people often weave.
